Good grant making entails more than just being an expert in your community or field of interest. It requires a set of tools and skills developed over many years, by many people, in many types of foundations.
As a leader in the philanthropic sector, the Ford Foundation believes in the value of sharing and learning about such practices. That's why, in 2001, the foundation launched GrantCraft, a source of practical wisdom for
grant makers.
GrantCraft offers a series of publications and videos designed to prompt discussions among foundation practitioners about strategic and tactical lessons in philanthropy. The publications and videos are based on the experience of grant makers at the Ford Foundation and a wide range of other funders and grantees.
The recent growth in the number of foundations and increases in foundation assets create a new opportunity to share grant-making experiences and thoughts about how best to do philanthropic work. We invite you to participate in this ongoing process. Contribute your experiences. Comment on the current publications and videos. Tell us your ideas about other resources we might create.
Visit GrantCraft to view the resources currently available and learn about more in the works.
